This is one of the most common questions we get asked when someone is renting a car. As long as you are renting a car in the Continental United States , the coverage you have on your own personal auto policy will transfer to that vehicle. So far example if you have Liability Limits of 100/300 it transfers, if you have Collision and Comprehensive with $500 deductibles it transfers..and so on.

BUT, if you get into an accident with the rental car and the car is out of commission for the company for a period of time, the rental car company can charge for the loss of income on that car. Some major Credit Card carriers will cover that gap so check with them before you rent so you can get that extra coverage.
